How to protect your perimeter

October 10th, 2016|

Your first line of defence when it comes to protecting your home is your perimeter security. You want to deter an intruder from even trying to breach the perimeter of your property. We advise that perimeter walls be at least 2.1m high. The idea is that any product that is on top of the wall becomes much more effective if it is at a height where it can't be easily tampered with. We also suggest that walls are tapered at the top so that it is only one brick wide. It is best to have no wide pillars or footholds that would help an intruder to climb the wall. The best product to fit to the top of the wall would be to fit one of our anti-climb wall spikes such as the Razor 11cm spike. This product is heavily ribbed for strength and is extremely difficult and dangerous to climb over. The product is galvanised to stop rusting and then it is powder coated so that it blends in with the wall. The razor spikes are fitted using zinc alloy hammer drive anchors

TOURISTS WARNED OF AIRPORT SHUTTLE BUS HIJACKINGS FROM OR TAMBO

May 15th, 2013|

Robberies of Shuttle Buses Transporting Passengers from Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport U.S. Consulate General, Johannesburg Security Message for U.S. Citizens April 17, 2013 The U.S. Mission to South Africa advises U.S. citizens to exercise special caution when arranging ground transportation from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg to hotels, guest houses, and residences. In the past month, several U.S. citizens and other travelers were robbed at gun point while traveling in shuttle buses from OR Tambo International Airport to their place of lodging. In some instances, the robberies took place after the shuttle bus arrived at a hotel or guest house. In other instances, the shuttle bus was boxed in and stopped by two vehicles on the street. The U.S. Mission recommends travelers select shuttle or taxi service with care, use reputable companies recommended by major hotels or shuttles provided by hotels, and use only licensed taxis parked at marked taxi locations at the airport. Travelers should avoid changing money at the airport, and avoid displaying ostentatious jewelry, watches, or luggage while traveling. You can get Embassy updates by checking the website of

South Africa is the Most dangerous country in the world, which is not at war

June 13th, 2012|

Article appearing on BBC news Website: 16 April 2002 South Africa is the most dangerous country in the world, which is not at war. Fifteen thousand people were murdered between January and September last year. Cracking the problem of crime remains the single biggest challenge facing South Africa's Government. This year R31.8 billion ($3.5 billion) was budgeted to pay for the fight against crime, 11% of total government spending. Have you experienced crime in South Africa? What can the government, and society at large, do? And following the acquittal of Dr Wouter Basson, the man who headed South Africa's apartheid-era germ warfare programme, how much faith do you have in South Africa's courts?

SECURITY DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON

November 24th, 2011|

SECURITY DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON IN THESE MODERN TIMES IN THE NEW SOUTH AFRICA THE END OF THE YEAR IS ALWAYS A VULNERABLE TIME. IT IS THE TIME THAT THE ZIM EXPATS RETURN HOME WITH ENOUGH MONEY TO CELEBRATE THE FESTIVE SEASON AND LEAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR FAMILIES TO SURVIVE ANOTHER 3 TO 6 MONTHS. YOU CAN BLAME THIS ALL ON ROBERT WHO HAS DONE NOTHING FOR HIS PEOPLE. THE ONLY WAY TO TOP UP THEIR RESERVES IS TO RESORT TO CRIME. ASK ME I HAVE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE 3 YEARS AGO FROM A TRUSTED ZIM GARDENER WHO HAD WORKED FOR ME FOR 4 YEARS . WHAT TO DO. BE ON THE ALERT AND ENSURE YOU DO NOT KEEP MONEY ON THE PREMISES AND MAKE IT KNOWN. I HAVE A SIGN UP OUTSIDE MY PREMISES THAT WE DO NOT ACCEPT CASH, PAYMENT ELECTRONICALLY OR BY CHEQUE ONLY. SECURE YOUR PREMISES. MAKE SURE THAT THE PHYSICAL SECURITY IS GOOD. ELECTRIC FENCES ARE ARE OK BUT SHOULD BE SUPPORTED BY A GOOD SPIKING SYSTEM SUCH AS RAZOR SPIKE SUPPLIED AND FITTED BY RAZOR SPIKE INTERNATIONAL.
